Luca’s Infusion Revolution
Luca’s Mediterranean Cafe in Keene, New Hampshire has long been known for innovative flavors and fresh takes on favorites. This summer, owner and chef Luca Paris decided to up the ante on flavor with cocktails made with house-infused spirits. By infusing New Hampshire-made New England Sweetwater Spirits with fruits and herbs, he created a new and exciting drink menu for his team and guests.
Infused Spirits Take Inspiration From Seasonal Flavors
The infusion revolution started when Luca decided to combine Ashelot Vodka and blueberries. This infusion became the base for his Blueberry Martini and Blueberry Smash. Like infusions, smashes are a drink trend making a comeback with a more ingredient-conscious audience. Infusions take the guesswork (and food dye) out of flavored spirits while allowing chefs and mixologists more creative control.
Next, Luca reached for King Fish Rum, strawberries, and mint from the Cafe’s new herb garden. With some simple syrup, club soda, and a fresh sprig of mint to garnish, Luca’s Strawberry Mint Mojito was born.
But Luca’s favorite creation yet is the Pineapple Sunshine. Pineapple-infused Monadnock Moonshine is served over ice with agave nectar, sour mix, and garnished with rosemary and fresh pineapple. “It’s had a following since day one,” says Luca.
Located at 10 Central Square in Keene, NH, Luca’s Mediteranean Cafe serves lunch Monday-Friday 11:30AM-2:00PM, dinner Monday-Thursday 5:00PM-9:00PM, Friday and Saturday 5:00PM-10:00PM, and Sundays 5:00PM-9:00PM May through New Years.
